The hard plastic outer case does crack and split but stays largely together think of this as sacrificial damage

The sticky side of this is protected by a backing sheet that you have to peel off immediately before fixing to your phone

However you really must do this in a sterile cleanroom environment otherwise dust particles from the air will be attracted to the sticky side due to static charges and when you try to attach it to your phone you will get annoying air bubbles and have to throw it away
