Pros

This thing is sturdy. Sturdy dense material. The drive bay covers feel a little flimsy, but they have not caused much concern when opening and closing them. Currently i have only 3 drives in it stays around 40°c for each drive.

Orico's device is straight-forward to use.

This enclosure is less than worthless for backups. The irritating jmicron chipset overrides all the drive serial numbers with a single number. This makes it useless for server oses that use serial numbers.

This is the second orico product may first being a 2 bay set up as a raid


It has its little quirks to it but saving close to 100 compared to competitive devices is a decent trade off in my opinion

    In order to put these devices in raid you need to grab some special software from oricos website and its not totally obvious which raid software youre looking for

    Like other reviews have said theres no way to disable the device from spinning down the drives after 10 minutes of inactivity

    Just randomly windows decides it needs to do a device check and it causes the drives to spin up
