Pros

David baldacci is a hallmark of his work. This novel is a page-turner, nonetheless.

A great storyline. Not too mushy. Amazingly, a miracle happens, jack recovers.

Cons

This book is very amateur-ish. While reading this book, i found myself constantly exclaiming, this writing is so amateur! That makes me a very lopsided reader. Save your money, and sanity.

The plot is heavily teen-centered (with a predictable adult romance as almost a sub-plot). The only genre in which i could place this book is teen age fiction. There is no intrigue in story where happiness is so predictable.

Lazy - what's up with the refusal to name the (always fatal) illness? No trace of the disease. Baldacci never tells us. The only thing we know is that the disease is so horrible, that jack can’t even pronounce it.

A very disappointing book. This book deserves an exception. Cannot recommend this book, so many, many better novels to read. However the rest of the book is only boring stuff about his kids and all of them ultimately recovering from mom's death.

This was a total departure from anything else i had read by david baldacci and was very pleasantly surprised

Packaging/appearance

I cried at the the first chapter and again at the last

I cant believe how much tie was spent in the lighthouse and how long the daughter managed to hang out to the driftwood
