Encounters are handled by rolling colored dice depending on strength agility magic or hero dice and you simply need to roll better than what’s printed on the encounter card to avoid the consequences

The only real downside is a lack of character customization that is a hallmark of titles in the genre because for the most part characters abilities do not change over the course of a single game while the campaign mode does offer more customizable through its unlock system
