Easy push button on top and a light comes on when grinding. Use can use them one handed while stirring with the other hand. Standard aa cells which are inexpensive.

Sturdy but elegant, very efficient and love the light underneath. Skeek stainless steel design. Stylish, easy to use, good value. Great sleek polished look. Salt & pepper mills work perfectly.

The batteries keep popping out of their case. When i take the top of to fix it, it all falls apart and the peppercorns are everywhere. Two black plastic pins need to be aligned in the hopper. Will revert to manual grinders when these stop.

These mills look very sleek but as for functionality, they fall short. The actual capacity for salt or pepper is deceptively only about 1/3 of the total unit.
