Both pieces are filled from the top, which i love. My old salt shaker had to be filled at the bottom so i would have to set it upside down firmly against the palm of one hand while refilling it with the other. I find myself replacing them often.

Cons

After 15 months the salt discolored the (plastic) salt shaker. Even when you shake it hard barely any salt comes out. Very disappointed and frustrated.
