The fan is not soundless but it is quite enough to not be a distraction (unless all you use your gaming system / laptop to play solitaire). Quiet and efficient. The tradeoff with noise/space and better performance is worth it for me.

Ips screen panel heats up the laptop quicker. Those old laptops have a gpu graphics processor issue and if they get too hot, they're a goner. Ghz dual core, seems to keep the laptop pretty cool with 3 speeds.

Cons

Fan blows hot air back to the mac. The connector is an old fashioned plug to usb in the most obnoxious position where it can easily break off.
