Theres no worry about the case coming open the clip holds good and tight which was really the only real concern i had before purchasing

I bought this for coloring because i wanted a clipboard that had space inside to hold my 72 piece castle art colored pencils i put them in loose so i dont have to deal with digging them out of the box they come in every time and it works perfectly for that
