The gate is plastic and does not look as nice as the metal ones but the advantage is the full swing and no bottom rail

Its cheap and when the gate is open removing the gate altogether is trivial

I dont know of other gates that are both strongly mounted into the wall for use at the top of stairs yet also can be removed without any hardware at all

If you place the mounting sockets directly across from each other the gate will not be parallel to the step or doorway
