Molds are heavy and well made. The mold is held on by the tension from the two prongs. It is very easy to set the tension with the knob on the handle.
Cons
Its not only dangerous but its totally ineffective. Don't waste your money on the nordic ware brand. Do not waste your time or money, not to mention burnt fingers.
There isn't a groove inside the rosette iron -so it has a tendency to fall off the handle & into the hot oil, etc. I was splattered with hot oil and ended up only being able to come away with a dozen cookies. They need to do something besides a si... Read More

Simply spread prongs slightly and screw on the molds.

The reason these are not screwed onto the handle is because the irons become very hot and if you want to change designs you would have to wait for them to cool down before attaching another design.

In fact if you have the correct amount of batter on your mold the rosettes will come off the mold within about 10 seconds and then you can turn them easily.

The prongs hold the tension just right and none of my molds fell off.
