Pros & Cons

Pros

The headphones are sennheiser mm30i iems, which have good bass response. The fiio x3 has its own built-in dac and amplifier, but the external headphone amp really makes everything sound even better. I have them paired with beyerdynamic dt 770 pro 80 o...  Read More

It's smaller than i imagined, but the small size turned out to be beneficial because it does not clog up my limited desk space. The tube connectors are insanely tight though.

It rocks! Affordable, dependable and very easy to use. Well here i am to tell everyone that this isnt a gimmick. It would be nice if an amp came with tubes that almost no one would want to swap out.

Tubes add a little warmth, with an cool glow. The amp smooths out the music and adds warmth.

Vacuum tubes are actually a lot tougher than people think, which is a real life saver here. But wow. No need to make a tradeoff anymore.

Cons

There was a huge amount of static coming from the amp. Not a low tone or a hum, but a crackling sound similar to plastic being crinkled. When any of the connections gets too loose it causes my headphones to spasm at max power.

Quality

I love the warm sound from this amplifier built quality and sound quality is amazing for the price paid

It boosts my sound to the quality and volume i was looking for

I guess the heaters are probably 99 of the power usage with the rest barely using much more than that

However with the supplied tubes it is a noisy little amp with audible hum at low volume levels

Price

The price is right and it is a good headphone amp

Build quality for the price is really pretty good with the volume control feeling nice and solid

But my chord dave and msaler cost me 15k which give very refined sound

Packaging/appearance

Packaging was bad but the product is good makes my sennheiser headphone much louder and a tad clearly packs a good bunch for th...  Read More

Since the lineout jack also bypasses the fiio x3s onboard eq volume and tone controls there is no way to adjust the sound other...  Read More

This is really disappointing and a waste of the money i put into the 6ak5s

I think there is a little extra sound stage connected to headphone out of the nobsound

Competitiveness

I have this amp connected to a fiio x3 1st gen dap along with a set of sennheiser hd599 headphones

I have them paired with beyerdynamic dt 770 pro 80 ohm and they sound amazing

The specific daca used is a 32bit decoder but not much of an amplifier

One good 18650 will probably net some 3 to 3 12 hours or so of play time though i intend to use a 2x panasonic 18650 pack for p...  Read More
