You have to hold the harness on the dog while you loop the strap through the drings on the back

This does come in two pieces the harness that the dog steps into and the back clip piece

This is the first time i have been able to take him for an actual walk instead of me being tugged and pulled

Okay once you figure out the adjustment

The hand strap is not attached to the harness so it can be a bit difficult to install if your dog doesnt hold still for you

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Also the center strap for the front leader would work much better if it was anchored in the center rather than free floatingfortunately both of these issues can be corrected with some heavy rug thread

You have to train your dog to be still as it takes two hands and patience to slip it in the hoops and then secure the clasp
