I have a 2020 macbook pro and all peripheral ports are working monitor keyboard mouse usb dongle webcam but i cannot get ethernet connectivity

I bought this knowing that it could not be used to charge my batterypower my laptop because i needed to be able to use it to boot my dell g5 laptop which uses a far bigger power supply

I have to open my laptop a pain because of its location to click the continue button when it tells me it cant charge my battery
