We got them to check in on our pets while out of the house we didnt have the paid subscription and felt the cameras did a good job for what we bought them to do

Video quality is excellent if you have a good wifi network good upload speed and you set the video quality to high its really remarkable i think its limited to 720p if your phone is on cellular to save on data but it seems to be full proper 1080p when on a good wifi network

The nest app is extremely easy to use and setting up the cameras is quick and easy
