As long as you are a really good handyman, and have lots of tools handy, then it's just ok. Typical outdoor metal door locks are far cheaper and more durable. Don't buy this latch and wasting your time and money.

We wanted to give someone access to the backyard with a key

My problem was the gap between the door and post were super close so i had to use the router was a cedar fence to sink the components
