Its not much but its enough to cause many gate latches particularly the gravity latches not to work

Gravity latches have almost zero room for tolerance if the post side of the latch is even 14 higher or lower than the v in the other side of the latch it wont lock or stay closed

Theres about 12 in the magnetic portion of the latch that receives the post that area is oval so it can accept some movement

Then the magnetic portion also has slotted screw holes that allow another 12 of adjustment
