I use a base coat then the ridge filler one coat of polish and finish it off with a gloss top coat

I never used to wear base coat i used to see it as an unnecessary step in manicures and a waste of money

Main reason i use it is to remove white spots if you have a lot it takes few weeks while they grow out but once they do if you use this every week they dont return
