The material is thin but its similar to a stretch tshirt material thats super soft

Other reviewers have said if you have patterned chairs that you can see the pattern underneath but i cant even with the dark floral pattern of my chairs

Just wish they were spill proof as im sure should a spill occur it would seep right through to the chair
