Pros

If you are looking for a good studio/ podcasting mic, this is your mic. If you’ve already been doing this for a while this mic is an absolute steal. Good beginners mic.

Bass is good, but not ground breaking, highs are a bit sparkly so if your voice is bit on the higher sibilant side, this maybe a deal breaker. Excellent sounding mic.

Cons

The mxl 770 picks up like garbage. The durability is suspect. To get warranty, the seller shall issue invoice to me as a proof, not only the order.

The instructions are also absolute garbage with no trouble shooting help. The sound levels coming in to my interface are extremely low, especially for a condenser. Fell apart after 3 months, despite never really needing to adjust my mic.

Quality

The sound quality is fantastic, with the bass-roll off switch especially being handy for vocals, and the build quality is superb.

I am very pleased with the overall quality of this mic.

The sound quality was great, i had no idea what i was doing, and it took me awhile to figure out how to get it to work.

I was not able to get the quality of sound i expected.

Price

It's a very nice mic for a good price.

Packaging/appearance

Right out of the box, i plugged it in to my focusrite scarlett 2i2 and it sounded super awesome.

Competitiveness

I also got a neewer sound mixer and this pair works very well.

Used next to a mxl 3000 and a rode nt1, sounds better than the 3000 (at a fraction of the price) and holds its own against the nt1.

My friend and long-time band partner always owned mxl condenser microphones for the purpose of recording and/or broadcasting.

With mxl mics 770, my voice is so much better.

I wanted to use this mic to record music on my computer or phone.

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

You need some kind of external preamp or else this mic will not override the phone's mic.

He always went high-end mxl mics though, so i wasn't sure how much i would be sacrificing with a cheaper mxl mic like this, but damn was i wrong.

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I seriously cannot even tell a difference between this cheap mic and the $400 mxl he had.

For newbs:this does not plug directly into your computer.

This is not a usb microphone like your common blue condenser microphone.
