The height of the snorkel should prevent any water entering the system

He normally has to use a noseclip as well or he will breathe in water through his nose and despite trying several snorkels he didnt seem to find any of them easy to use sometimes the tube was too short the mouthpiece was too big or they just leaked around the mouth area

I found the mouthpiece a little too large and several times it set off a gag reflex so that i had to spit it out

This particular version is well designed with a soft mouthpiece and its curve means that it is well clear of the water even if like me you keep your head quite submerged

The design and positioning of the snorkel mean that you dont have to lift your head to breathe but at the same time the snorkel doesnt drag in the water
