It is a bit pricey, but quality is excellent. Sturdy casing and high polished leveling surface. It is also aesthetically pleasing.

Much better tool than the cheap aluminum chinese distribution tools you can buy everywhere for 20 and those are not deep enough
I would compare favorably with more expensive products

Im not sure if i would try a spring loaded tamper because spinning this produces the same basic result and its fun to spin it

It also arrived with a significant burr left over from machining which would have scraped up the wall of my basket however i was luckily able to remove it with some effort

Black part is made out of what i believe is aluminum and has an aluminum screw welded or forged as part the inside of the black top which threads into the stainless steel tamp to adjust the depth of the tamp going into the portafilter
