To charge using dc from the car you need a maletomale 12volt cord which of course the unit did not come with

I just plugged it into the cigarette lighter stuck the leads of a trickle charger on the other end and 30 minutes later the car started up

Stanley specifically says that you can only charge it one way and you have to buy the cord that does not come with it thats why i bought this item because it was suggested
