It installed into an existing opening in my dash but if you had to drill it would work good too

The way the grommets are set up on it they are impossible to put on without unplugging the usb so if you forgot to start with them on that can be some extra work

It would be perfect if you could detact the front connector or screw off a cap to allow the grommets on from that side
