Do yourself a favor and find the depth that the engraver is sharpest from material and make a jig a piece of wood or metal that is the right length so you are not constantly guessing at the proper z axis measurement

I have only ever had one overheat warning using about 3 gallons of water starting at room temperature and it was after two hours of continuous laser use finishing a big project of many engraved plaques
