The only downside is its petroleum odor. The heavier oil that i use as above is the monster bearing and linkage oil. Needs to be used in conjunction with the bearing linkage oil to properly maintain your french horn valves.

    Heavy oil my instructor a very experienced professional horn player and teacher advised me to use light oil under the rotor caps and in the slides and a heavier oil in the seams between the stationary valve plates and the turning rotor posts on the back side of the horn
