As someone who comes from the it industry and who has spent most of their life around various collectorvintagehigh performance cars as well as tons of time at ranges with firearms i can say one thing for sure entertainment whether it is books tv or movies get 99 of anything involved in those topics dead wrong to the point of 2 minutes on wikipedia could have fixed that

I am sure the same is true for most anything else whether it is horses swords knitting or brick laying entertainment doesnt bother to look at anything for basic info and that yanks me right out of a story and i know many others with that same problem

Another thing enjoyable aside from the classic adventure tale all it was missing was an orphan farmboy and a plucky princess is that a lot of the common horror tropes were turned on their heads all of the supporting cast are well thought out and well backstoried characters not cardboard cutouts obviously all gets expanded on as the series continues but the black guy he meets in training doesnt get killed off early for no reason the hot blonde is not the morally ambiguous tramp who waits to the worst possible time to shag someone all of those things that make everyone roll their eyes at horror ie the bad decisions to push the plot forward are gone

The writing style is down to earth almost like someone is writing their own diary criticizing themselves for stupidly saying the wrong thing or offending another character
