Pros & Cons
Pros
The nozzle gets up to 280 degrees c which will work with almost any filament. For pla it’s best to use brass nozzle instead of stainless steel. Get a 1kg spool of filament with the printer and do a small test print to make sure everything comes out pe... Read More
Cons
Photos show the longitudinal wear groves left by bearing balls. The groves are where the rails contact 4 rows of balls inside the bearing. I'm not sure if the print head, the x/y/z axis or something else was damaged.
Save your money, don't by this junk. I was hopeful after reading the many positive comments that this would be a good starter 3d printer, however, you are best to spend your money on a different brand.
Monoprice would rather take money from new customers than satisfy people who have already paid. They cannot locate the printer i have shipped back to them for a warranty issue. They do not honor the 1 year warranty here.
The wires connecting to the bed were already starting to chafe and come apart. The heated bed surface has gouges on it making it unusable. Heat bed cover not adhered well.
If it doesn't come in a monoprice branded shipping box then it's probably a return. This is incredibly disappointing.
Highlights
Quality
Additionally i found the petg prints were a bit stringy but the quality was miles ahead
I am still amazed by the quality of the printout
For example i ordered a roll of pla and did not bother with the little bit they sent with the printer
Usinly pla i found that the printer had a difficult time with small parts even with the different printing specs
Price
I believe for the for a first timeprinter and the price i think it is a good pick
My expectation for this printer was low given the price
I thought to myself thats almost the price of a 3d printed
Packaging/appearance
Works great right out of the box
From the movement the wiring eventually cracks so the printer wont get a proper reading from the thermistor
Competitiveness
Works well for small pla and petg prints
5 picture from my local dollar store this thing runs like a champ
I have used pla and petg filaments and had great prints but not without a lot of trial and error
I found many models too large and prices outside my budget
