It has labels one identifying the source and the other the display my very quick attempt to switch ends seems to indicate that it does matter in other words this appears to actually be a oneway hdmi cable

Because it is a powered cord the chipset it does indicate which end goes where sourcedisplay which helps because it wont work backwards
