However the automatic shut off on the one i received will tend to boil and boil the water until somewhere inside the appliance a heat sensor is triggered and it turns off

This is an attractive kettle with a great heating element but after about 2 years an invisible spring has broken in the lid and the kettle will not turn off automatically
