If you are on the fence about this product, i’d highly recommend giving it a shot and see how it performs. I find it helpful to splay the ends of the wick a bit just to loosen it up.
Wick * up solder like a sponge. Use the iron to depress the wick on to the workpiece.

Make sure you are applying the iron to the wick not the item to be soldered

If the solder isnt coming off as clean as you would like you can try applying more solder which will give the solder more momentum and might be the extra push you need

Otherwise you have to hold the wick further from the tip or else by the spool or with a tool which might not give you the control you need for delicate work
