Its not very sensitive when it comes to touching cords on xmas lights

But for a few dollars more i think a small budgetquality multimeter with noncontact voltage detection would have been better for my application which was repairing a string of christmas lights

I used this ncv tester to locate burned bulbs plural by repeatedly bisecting the string so it only takes about 6 measurements to locate each bulb
