You do have to snap the disc guard into position and that process is not described anywhere

To loosen the spindle nut press down on the spindle lock while the blade is winding down yeah it sounds like its grinding down but thats normal and sure enough when the blade stops and youve unplugged the machine the spindle clamping nut is loose enough to unscrew by hand

One thing not described in the instruction manual at all is the 3year warranty extension

Note that you dont put in the w9115 as the model number rather you have to use the model number on the data plate

But for grinding steel and stripping paint off an old trailer it worked just fine
