The motor is not a soft start one but it is reasonably quiet for a brushed motor. Great quality - it is certainly a world away from the 'own brand'cheapies.
The only thing i am having trouble with is keeping the bevel action locked at 90. Sliding side extensions are useful but not removable. The work clamp and rotate controls have a sort of quick adjust feature.
Cons
The work * supplied are rubbish, i don't bother using these anymore, they're more of a hindrance than a help. The angle adjustments aren't dead on accurate. Probably the most annoying thing and regrettable thing about this saw.

I went for metabo because about 30 years ago i bought a metabo jigsaw and it is still going strong
This metabo hitachi saw is good if not very good
That being said they are still made with quality components to metabo standards and metabo design

Update edit compound angled cuts when i first looked over the machine i was a little concerned that the teethwere very near to the inner edge of the plastic trim running down the mitre arm

When time allows i hope to run some more cuts and ill post a couple more picsbut i want to check over the set up first not much to do by the looks of it but itmay be best gone over at the weekend when ive got more time

Youll see hopefully 2 images with a piece of wood not resting in the cutting positionbut i found i could better make the laser and work light stand out here and even thenit may not be very clear
