"nice polished rounded top feels so good against my skin" best shave of my life. My husband is big into old-fashioned shaving, and his old razor was a little light. Easy to shave.
This is the first time i am using a double edge razor. I am coming from a feather brand plastic butterfly style razor. A good shaving soap and brush lets you lather up 2 or 3 times in one sitting with less outlay than a can of edge or barbasol.

This razor is a 3 piece that is a lottle fidly to change blades but it is well worth it. It travels well, and has become my go-to travel razor. For the price its a great razor.
The durability of this merkur makes you think you'll be shaving with it until your final days. Cheaper to replace the blades. I use the derby blades as they seem to be very smooth for me.
Cons
Same blade which gives me a clean shave on merkur 2 piece razor, gives me improper shave on this razor. Not sure what to do now. Don't want to spend more money on trying a different one, but don't need to keep throwing out disposables.

Totally recommend you get one of these and maybe get one for a friend still using the plastics

This c42 is less than half the price of merkur 34c but its almost as good as 34c
But if you’ve never used a de before look around for a used nonadjustable straight solid bar merkur
Just used this razor for the first time today with a 7 oclock gillette yellow blade

If you are transitioning from disposable razors the first thing you notice about this short handle merkur is the weight it is much heavier than the multi blade disposables

Another thing that is different is the size of the shaving head which is quite large compared to the disposable multi blades
