Pros & Cons

Pros

The threads are fairly sturdy as are the barbs that keep the hose from disengaging under high pressure. This makes the hose more pliable. The threads work well even with the garden spay bottles i use to kill mosquitos. Worked perfectly, shipped fast.

Tested with full pressure and bingo, no more leaks. It still drips a little, ever so slightly, but at least i didn't need to throw a hose away and buy a new one. No leaks after connecting a spray nozzle.

Cons

A3/4 hose fits very loose. With a little back pressure from nozzle the crimp gives up the leak. After a week or so connected to nozzle, the threads on the plastic male connector are soft and the nozzle popped off. The soft plastic is stripping out and...  Read More

Not as advertised fits 3/4 and 5/8 hoses. I'm sure it's fine for repairing smaller hoses, but it's totally inadequate for my needs. Even for 1/5 it would'be been hard to fit, probably only with heating the hose.

Quality

I am very pleased with a product that works perfectly and was super easy to install

I had been getting by with the damaged threads of my male hose end where my female hose sprayer attachment wouldnt fit securely...  Read More

The hose barb needs to snug and for 34” i doubt it would be tight enough maybe with a hose clamp but doubtful with the included clamp

Packaging/appearance

I have used the melnor hose repair unit for years to repair both 38 and 12 soaker hoses even using the same unit multiple times

Competitiveness

I cut off the damaged male threads and easily installed the new melnor male thread end piece

So less than stellar reviews made me pause a bit but for the low price i figured it’s worth a try
