I dont know what the oem sony unit is like because i could not bring myself to pay 300 for it but if it is anything like the quality of this piece i would have felt completely ripped off

I had to put a piece of rubber band inside the second battery compartment to wedge the battery in and keep it from falling out once the case was closed

In the end though i think it will hold up to the occasional use i will give it when i need extra battery life and it cost no where near what the sony unit does

The directions are horrible but other than that its fine if you can figure out how to use it

Very handy for full day outings not so good when sitting on a shelf for a few days the dreaded battery drain is there
