This is to brace a knee that has a torn acl,mcl and lcl with a torn meniscus and cartilage damage along the lateral line. It works well with lateral support, it's not an acl brace.

Walking up and down stairs is almost painless when they are on. Comes with extra padded pads so you can make it more custom.

The stability of the frame is unmatched. It adds stability without reducing range of motion. It easily fits under his dickies work pants or jeans.



Cons

Mcdavid hinged-brace offers no cushioning or support, whatsoever. Sleeve” is thin like a piece of * hose.

    It does not grip well however the brace straps and shell design aid in securing the brace by gripping pretty well right below the knee

    All in all though i will probably opt for the shock doctor biologix or the 886 models when its time to upgrade support for my right knee

    I first tried a standard neoprene brace from a sporting goods store which helped a bit but felt too restrictive
