Pros & Cons

The AI used to provide these results are constantly improving. These results might change.

Pros

The top lid has 2 settings, 1 open for active ferments that need to vent, and one closed for 2nd ferment in the fridge. The lower lid is a strainer and had a pour spout. A tooth pick works in clearing the holes.

This straiiiner fits perfectly on my wide mouth ball 2 qt jars. The only downside is if you shake the container the inner cap is perforated.

The kit comes with 1 pack of sugar for the first batch. They work flawlessly for water kefir. Keep one on my almost constant brewing batch of water kefir.

Cons

The holes are way too small for milk kefir and they just immediately get clogged. I think for people who barely-ferment so it's still super liquidy it might work. I ferment it thick for low-carb reasons and these holes are waaaay too small.

No bueno. The top is a great idea but the starter was a bust. That seldom applies to anybody i know, though.

Quality

Lids are heavy duty and will make the straining the grains easy

They are durable easy to clean with removable gaskets

The airlock part of this lid is a twopart lid the top part is elevated up to allow airflow while sitting above the strainer lid

Not being able to use metal really limits what you can easily find and the cheesecloth method seems wasteful

The only downside is if you shake the container the inner cap is perforated and will splash to the outer cap

They also close with just a simple turn of the top clear piece

I tried using the strainer portion of the lid to pour through but found the holes a bit too large for my smaller grains may work for larger grains but i feel it may plug up easily

It would be nice to lower the price a little bit because the competition is just to pour through a mesh strainer not ideal to touch metal or one of those nine dollar plastic strainers they don’t work very well not enough holes so it stops straining quickly

It’s fits normally on the shelf with a flat twopiece lid doesn’t allow floaters into your fermentation allows airflow

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

The lid strainer actually works very well because there’s a lot of holes air can flow through some of the holes while you’re also straining kefir or liquids

Other than that they worked great
