Hopefully this helps you if you're a newbie. This is my 4th season doing an above ground pool (thanks pandemic for getting me started) the design of this plunger valve is excellent. Great quality and very durable.

It does split the water from the pump however even when i closed the valve and closed my sander valve water continued to flow through it

But in case youre very new to above ground pools let me tell you in very basic detail why you want thismost pools come with their own little filter pump that is supposed to work for the number of gallons that pool size will hold

So your basic small above ground pool filter probably comes with the skinny 1 diameter hoses

I just remember when i was first starting out it all seemed so confusing and i couldnt see how this t plunger valve was going to help me with the hose conversion as all 3 outlets of the t appeared to be the same size
