It illuminates automatically in the dark — it glows softly and doesn't put too much light in the bedroom. The backlit dial is pretty easy to read. The snooze/back light is bright enough to read but not a problem for sleeping.

After 4 months, it is still working fine with rechargeable batteries that i haven’t had to recharge yet. Since the night light is on all night every night, at first i assumed battery life would be significantly reduced.

Alarm is loud enough but not obnoxious. It's loud enough (constant ringing bell) it's truly silent and i like the sweep second hand.

The adjustment knob on the back is easy to detach when you pull it out to change the time setting. Easy to set both time and alarm. Has a rare feature in analog alarm an automatic backlight that makes it visible in the middle of the night.

Plastic front is more the glossy side and i wish it were more matte finish. Will be returning for refund. Clock came broken. It wasn't damaged in transit, it just wasn't assembled properly.

There was absolutely no ticking at all. Altogether unacceptable for an alarm clock. That, or i'm a caveman when it comes to operating technology.
