I had a similar item from another manufacturer which stopped working after two weeks

However although it was very easy to use it didnt give readings of tds that i could use

Contacted instrument supplier who understood problem and resolved the issue very well

Hence although it may be perfectly ok to convert tds to hardness in many circumstances it doesnt apply after softening

In summary the instrument is excellent for what is does but no good to check softened water

My only complaint is that the calibration process while simple enough to understand and follow through with is sloppy at best

I noted the warning in the instructions about immersing it up to a line and not beyond
