It's the sturdiest stand (that doesn't way a million pounds) that i've found. The shelf holds my tuner and picks and a pencil easily. Love the extra shelf for bow, rosin, etc.

It raises high enough for a standing musician. My husband was thrilled with this music stand. This stand is the singer's friend.

The stand is adjustable in height and is friction based. The bolts come tightened and you must loosen them to assemble. Requires a bolt screw (or an adjustable pair of pliers) and a large flat head screwdriver.

The fifteen dollar import stand from mf or gc is not just as good it's essentially better. These used to be premium stands, and now i would not recommend them to my private students over a k&m folding stand.

The desk hinge is now plastic? The shaft grinds and is very difficult to pull up or push down. And i really wish it didn't creak and squeak when rotated.
