Pros & Cons

Pros

This head is sturdy and solidly designed. This tripod head is so smooth and built to last. For low-budget filmmakers who need cinema-level gear at an affordable price.

It has great dampening for video work and adaptability for still photography. It is also massive enough and fully dampened to eliminate a significant amount of vibration when used for static shots or dynamic video shooting.

The 502 is rock steady and smoothly handles the sony a6600 mirrorless body. For how beefy this tripod is, there isn't any damage to the product itself. For sturdiness, it all depends on the tripod you use.

Cons

The adjustment screw for the arm frequently binds within the bracket that holds the arm in place. I have to be very mindful when adjusting this, as it will always bind if i am not particularly careful when adjusting it. The arm becomes easily bound up...  Read More

Long mounting plate is finished with a rough texture that binds a bit when mounting it into the head. The pan axis has a dead zone; it's loose right on pickup. This tripod is not manfrotto quality.

Head has a grinding/clicking noise associated with the fluid system. Adjusting either tension knob does result in a variance in tension, but also either feels like inconsistent sandpaper or sounds like peeling packing tape off of bubble wrap. The head...  Read More

Smooth vertical tilts are impossible with the 804. While panning is fluid at all drag levels, tilting is not at the light to medium levels. As a nature videographer, it is a big deal breaker for me.

Plate gets stuck even with tightening knob totally loose. Plate tightening knob is too close to the top and is clumsy to tighten with a camera mounted. Manual zooming of the lens is difficult and problematic.
