Pros & Cons
Pros
The 804 head is ok for still images, albeit a bit sticky when it comes to adjusting. On opening the box, i was impressed with the sheer size and weight of this fluid head. The fluid drag system make noise when dialing…can't believe the quality like th... Read More
Tilt and pan have separate pressure adjustment knobs. Allows you to dial in just the right amount of force needed to glide the head. Fantastic for smoothly panning around with ultra high zoom lenses.
The location is a bit inconvenient. It works great, but does add a bit more weight and height. This thing is hefty! For the price, this thing is awesome!
Swapping from my gimbal to a monopod or tripod is seamless since all the plates fit. Attaching any dslr-type camera is a breeze. There is a ball mount version, which requires a tripod that has the proper ball mount. Sliding the plate in an out rather ... Read More
It has great dampening for video work and adaptability for still photography. Because i have the ability to adjust the friction control it delivers smooth moments to create a cinematic feel.
Cons
While panning is fluid at all drag levels, tilting is not at the light to medium levels. The tilt axis really, really wants to zero at an angle. There was a lot of play in the tilt tension knob.
Even at the loosest setting, the head sticks in place backwards. The knob that tightens the camera plate down, is in the way when there is a wide dsrl camera body. The lock down is on the wrong side.
Lack of manfrotto warranty after purchase from the amazon seller makes this an unsatisfactory purchase. For the amount of money spent this is cheaply made. I am really surprised that in this case it happened to be a reputable name.

Great sturdiness for the heavy scope easy to use and a wonderful release knob to remove the scope quickly
The screw to tighten base plate is too big and impossible to secure the base plate with camera on the tripod
The panning fluid head drag system on this head is stuck
