Pros

Monopod can be used as a mini tripod. Perfect for concert and theatre events in low or changing light. If you are a short videographer and you are trying to shoot someone in a scrum of others it makes you a foot taller.

The manfrotto monopod is a great buy and an irreplaceable piece of gear for my daily operations as a run & gun cinematographer. Here are the pros and cons.

The feet are sturdy and the fact that they stow away so easily is great! The latches to extend the legs are solid and work easily. The only problem i've encountered is that the legs rattle inside the monopod when they are not extended. To fix that, us...  Read More

The vanguard sbh-100 ball head is a particularly well suited match for the m-682b. It is the only mono-pod that stops the side to side drift that other mono-pods suffer. Best mono ever. Needs a quick release head ( albeit adding extra weight and cost)...  Read More

Cons

Quality

I was immediately impressed with how sturdy and ruggedly built this is

Dthe feet are sturdy and the fact that they stow away so easily is great

The legs are too short to create any real stability and it does not lock in place causing the unit to spin in place

These things are really noisy with the legs in you can hear the legs rattling about inside the metal tube

Price

So you wouldnt want to regret with your costly gear

This is always after a lot of use though and 100 every year or two for such a crucial piece of equipment makes this a minor inconvenience

Shipping

Took it to ireland and was able to stow in my suitcase and it filled the bill for hdrshooting

I think this one is better i received this package in the mail and opened it so fast like a child during christmas

Packaging/appearance

I was looking in the box for the rest of the stand until i realized there is a hidden compartment at the bottom of the monopod ...  Read More

Carefully check the length and weight if you plan to pack it in a suitcase for travel

Competitiveness

Use this as a monopod and theres nothing in the world to compare with

I hate it because there is no better replacement for it and manfrotto hasnt released a newer version yet fixing all of its little quirks

Once a head is put on the top for mounting the camera you save maybe 5 lbs in comparison to the tripod

The legs on the 250 are far more useful for shooting due to the ball head on the feet
