I bought a couple of them and leave one of the camera plates on my camera all the time and fix a receiver plate on a tripod and one on a fly cam

You can change the battery on your camera without having to remove the camera plate so you never actually need to remove the camera plate from your camera

It does look a bit different than the picture which is actually a good thing in this case because it has 2 bubble levels on each side and the lever is black instead of silver

After that first little movement continue to pull back towards you now press in the chrome button at the end of the lever to fully release the plate

Trying to push the button at the beginning somehow makes it stick which i was trying to do at first and is stressful that you might think it doesnt work or is unreliable for fast exchange of gear

I have used manfrottos rc2 system for a while and just switched over to the 394 not the one in the picture thats the older model the current one has a lock for a secure connection and release

Although i think its a good thing to minimize accidental disconnects it can be harder to use than the rc2 mechanism
