I bought a couple of them and leave one of the camera plates on my camera all the time and fix a receiver plate on a tripod and one on a fly cam.

You can change the battery on your camera without having to remove the camera plate, so you never actually need to remove the camera plate from your camera.

It does look a bit different than the picture which is actually a good thing in this case because it has 2 bubble levels on each side and the lever is black instead of silver.

It does not block the door on most semi-professional dslrs.

After that first little movement continue to pull back towards you, now press in the chrome button at the end of the lever to fully release the plate.

Trying to push the button at the beginning somehow makes it stick (which i was trying to do at first) and is stressful that you might think it doesn't work or is unreliable for fast exchange of gear.

I have used manfrotto's rc2 system for a while and just switched over to the 394 (not the one in the picture - that's the older model - the current one has a lock for a secure connection and release).

Although i think it's a good thing to minimize accidental disconnects, it can be harder to use than the rc2 mechanism.
