They simply detect a voltage level or have a timer and they dont work at all with 9

No issuesif you put your ear up to it in a quiet room you can hear it make a quiet buzzing but its not very loud so its fine

Update do not be alarmed when you hear a slight hissing sound when the unit is doing its magic that is the way its supposed to work

The manual has no comment on these issues but i found additional information on the maha websiterescuing bad batteries indicated by a blinking red light occasionally the charger might show blinking red right to indicate bad batteries

If the light blinks red within five seconds after battery insertion then the battery voltage is too high
