The ms1 sling connects to the side of your gun not the bottom

Most of the people complaining about the length of the ms1 are actually confusing it with a carry strap

They are much shorter because they only need to be long enough to hold a gun in place while it is being carried not shot

The padded section is 46 inches long which is more than long enough to be used as a strap and magpul even calls this section a carry strap in the instruction manual

If you want to retain the adjustability features of the sling but with the shorter length of a carry strap you can simply cut the sling to length and melt the ends so they dont fray

The padded area is 2 wide and there is no seams in the strap other than the rectangles sewn in to keep padding in place and the total length of the strap is 72
