Mfr claims 96% efficiency and i believe that is quite accurate. I only run 1 amp though it so not sure if maximum rating is accurate or not. My module, like the picture, shows black as negative and red as positive.

Easy to implement, but done in by poor qa. Converter reads 9v without load, but fails to power the alarm. Failed after a probably less than 40 operating hours. Stepped voltage down from 13.
