Mfr claims 96% efficiency and i believe that is quite accurate. I only run 1 amp though it so not sure if maximum rating is accurate or not. My module, like the picture, shows black as negative and red as positive.

Easy to implement, but done in by poor qa. Converter reads 9v without load, but fails to power the alarm. Failed after a probably less than 40 operating hours. Stepped voltage down from 13.

I needed 9vdc for my guitar pedals, this little unit had made my situation a whole lot better.
All the wall wart power supplies i obtained were labeled 9 volts, but actually output much higher voltage, usually over 12 volts.
Bought and used to run a 9vdc circuit from a 12vdc supply.
