Pros
This sacrificial anode rod replacement is well designed. The old anode screw was rusted. It makes replacement a quick, handyman job.
I always utilize with water softener which i have read is harder on anode rods so happy to see the used one looks great after 2 years. Also pretreat with wd40 or other solvent for an hr or two. Information concerning hydrogen peroxide works very well.... Read More
Cons
Water stinks worse than it did before i changed it. Original element with rust and returned, then requested replacement rod. The nut has a weld point where i believe the cable that holds the magnesium cylinders is welded to.

The only challenge came from the links having been folded up for so long that the screw was tilted at a slight angle

If you are installing an anode in your water heater which you should do every 23 years be sure and check your over head clearance these jointed anodes need only maybe a foot of over head space to install

I don’t know the history of the water heater and had never replaced the rod

I checked the serial number at a supply house website and it said the oe rod was 0
